Who are we?
Our Mission
Empowering Citizens, Strengthening Democracy
RECup is a 24-month project funded under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV). Our mission is to foster European citizenship and improve conditions for civic and democratic participation. We believe that an engaged and informed society is the foundation of a stronger, more resilient Europe.
Why RECup?
The European Union is built on values of democracy, solidarity, and inclusion. However, in times of social and economic challenges—especially after the COVID-19 crisis—many citizens, particularly the unemployed, feel disconnected from EU institutions and policies. RECup seeks to bridge this gap by:
- Raising awareness about employment rights, EU policies, and civic responsibilities.
- Encouraging participation in EU decision-making processes through digital tools such as e-democracy platforms.
- Empowering unemployed citizens by reducing social exclusion and enhancing their role in local and European governance.
- Promoting cooperation among municipalities, organizations, and citizens to create sustainable solutions for democratic participation.
Through a series of events, training sessions, and policy discussions, RECup supports the active involvement of citizens in shaping the policies that affect them the most. We are committed to making democracy more accessible, inclusive, and interactive.
About the RECup Project
Building Bridges Between Citizens and EU Policies
RECup – Reinforcing European Citizenship through Building Up the Conditions for Civic and Democratic Participation – is a transnational initiative designed to engage citizens, particularly the unemployed, in EU policymaking processes.
Key Objectives:
🔹 Enhance civic participation: Educate citizens about their rights and responsibilities within the EU.
🔹 Strengthen digital democracy: Utilize e-democracy tools to facilitate engagement in EU policies.
🔹 Combat social exclusion: Empower unemployed citizens by providing platforms for active participation.
🔹 Encourage policy dialogue: Promote discussions on employment policies, social rights, and EU governance.
🔹 Create a lasting network: Build a transnational network of municipalities and organizations committed to inclusive governance.
How It Works:
- Digital Engagement: Through an Open Educational Resource (OER) platform and e-democracy tools, RECup enables citizens to participate in policy discussions, express concerns, and contribute to EU decision-making.
- Local and Transnational Events: RECup organizes workshops, conferences, and policy simulations across Romania, Malta, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and Spain.
- Empowerment through Education: Training sessions help unemployed citizens understand European policies and navigate opportunities within the EU framework.
By connecting people, policies, and digital tools, RECup fosters a more engaged and democratic society.
